This street, named in honour of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, one of the greatest teachers of Jewish law and ethics, links a pedestrian mall to Safed's ancient city. On entering the street, one senses the changes in sounds and atmosphere. It is a quiet alley, popular but peaceful. It is the perfect entrance way to a maze of alleys that host centuries-old synagogues and yeshivas.
The ideal place to sit and paint or just contemplate.
