The colour contrasts of this painting are what immediately caught my eye. These, combined with the cool, inviting shadow shapes sprinkled on the ground, give this alleyway in Nachlaot - one of Jerusalem's oldest neighbourhoods- a distinct charm that surprises me each time I visit there.
