I first saw these trees on a car trip on the eastern side of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), looking towards the Golan Heights.  I wanted to incorporate them into a painting where I had created atmospheric perspective using transitions in colour tone from cool in the distance, to warm in the foreground.  The trees provided the ideal focal point.
