Anat's House

I came upon the entrance to this courtyard in Safed and returned several times before I found just the right light to do the scene justice. I have sketched and painted this entrance several times, creating a different mood on each occasion. The entrance has a warm, dignified and inviting quality. I used just a few red tones in the foliage to create a focal area immediately above the sunlit courtyard.
